There are some things that computer technology and advances in software have transformed dramatically. One of these things is money management and accounting. And not only at the business and corporate level, but for the average home user as well.
One of the market leaders when it comes to accounting and financial software is Intuit, the creator of the extremely popular QuickBooks, Quicken and TurboTax applications, and, more recently, Quicken Online.
Intuit has been around for quarter of a century having been founded in 1983. In that time, it has managed to strike a near perfect balance between a high level of sophistication and user friendliness in its applications.
However, the software packages mentioned above are just its flagship products. Intuit does much more than this. It provides business and financial management solutions for small and mid-sized businesses; financial institutions, including banks and credit unions; consumers and accounting professionals.
So, at one end it has made it possible for people with little or no accounting experience to manage complex accounts. At the business level it provides checks and supplies, merchant services, payroll software, and much more.
Since it was initially founded by Scott Cook and Tom Proulx, Intuit has grown into a huge operation with approximately 8,000 employees. In the past 15 years it has made a large number of acquisitions.
