Avera Mckennan

Avera was formed by a group of health professionals, who came together with the aim of offering support services to over 231 locations in eastern South Dakota and the neighboring areas and it is also the health ministry of the benectine and presentation sisters.

The volunteers from Avera acquire their knowledge and skills from the large health systems in the region. The Avera’s central office is in Sioux falls, S.D, and the five regional centers, which include Avera sacred heart in Yankton , Avera queen of peace in Mitchell are some of the health organizations that offer management and support services.

Avera Mckennan’s mission is to promote the Christian values and health status of persons, by giving them the best quality services that is bound by the Christian values. The organization’s vision aims at providing cost-effective treatments to it’s patients with the right attitude.

The employees of Avera have embraced the virtues practiced by Jesus in their work and they show compassion for their patients and are ready to listen to the problems of their patients and have developed a good relationship with those whom they serve.

The caregivers are also guided by these core values; stewardship, compassion and hospitality, which motivate and lift up their spirits at all times of service.

Avera receives its sponsorship from the sisters of St Benedicts of Sacred heart monastery of Yankton S.D and the sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary of Aberdeen, S.D in accord with its catholic mission.
